On July 29, 2026, Khana House and Sharif Policy Research Institute (SPRI) hosted the 19th session of KHANA Dialogue series, “Economic Resilience in Crisis: China’s Industrial Development Model for Post-War Iran.” The session brought together a distinguished group of international experts for a timely discussion on the evolving war landscape, pathways toward de-escalation, and lessons from China’s experience for Iran’s economic resilience.
The panel featured Zoon Ahmed Khan, Research Fellow at the Centre for China & Globalization and Fellow at the Belt and Road Strategy Institute, Tsinghua University, China; Maria Nazeer (李星月), BD Senior Specialist at Finleap Financial Services (Pvt.) Ltd; Elif Kaya, Director of the China Research Centre and Assistant Professor at Istanbul Aydin University, Türkiye; Einar Tangen, Founder & Chairman of Asia Narratives and Senior Fellow at the Center for International Governance Innovation (CIGI); and Matteo Capasso, Professor at the School of Country and Region Studies, Northwest University, Xi’an, China.
The panel examined recent developments surrounding the conflict, along with the diplomatic efforts of countries including China, Türkiye, and the Persian Gulf states in supporting de-escalation and regional stability. Discussion also turned to how shifting geopolitical dynamics may shape Iran’s post-war economic environment, and what role external actors and regional partnerships might play in that trajectory.
