The issues of ethnic groups in relation to the political matters of the country, providing suggestions to the administration, and the establishment of a think tank for the respect of ethnic groups and religions
Abstract
Elections have always been a symbol of the people’s significance in determining their own destiny. Considering the public’s behavioral responses during different electoral periods in the country—whether in presidential elections, parliamentary elections, city council and neighborhood council elections, or even the Assembly of Experts elections—this notion is evident. A high level of political participation in society, along with the opportunity for individuals from various ethnic, religious, and sectarian groups to be involved in shaping their own future, contributes to strengthening national unity, political cohesion, and the formation of a dynamic and diverse political society. This, in turn, fosters interaction between political elites and the public. However, an analysis of past elections indicates a diminishing role of ethnic groups in the country’s electoral process.
