The Decline of America and the Rise of a Multipolar World

On October 12, 2025, the session “The Decline of America: A Reality in the New World Order” at KHANA brought together experts Dr. Keyhan Barzegar, Dr. Seyed Hashem Mirlouhi, and Mohammad Mahdi Emadimoghadam to analyze the shifting global landscape based on a multipolar world.

Emadimoghadam highlighted that U.S. official documents now speak of “great power competition”, signaling the end of unchallenged American dominance. China’s Belt and Road Initiative, technological advances, and Russia’s eastward alignment illustrate the emergence of independent blocs. Conflicts in Gaza and Yemen show the Resistance Axis evolving into a strategic network.

Mirlouhi criticized the ideological and cultural foundations of the U.S., describing its democracy as plutocratic and its society as trapped by media and capital.

Barzegar emphasized that America’s decline is relative, not total, and that rising powers like China, Russia, Iran, and India are reshaping the global order. He stressed that Iran can transform from a passive observer into a strategic actor by strengthening technology, regional diplomacy, and narrative-building in the emerging multipolar world.
