The event held at KHANA titled : AI and Passive defense

As KHANA continues to broaden its academic and collaborative horizons, this month witnessed a thought-provoking event at the intersection of technology, security, and governance. The first specialized session in the series “From Vision Document to AI Governance” was held under the theme “Passive Defense in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The event was organized by the Think Tank for the Development of Culture and Knowledge in Technology and Artificial Intelligence in cooperation with KHANA.

The session featured a distinguished panel: Davood Masoudi, Head of the AI Committee of the Parliament’s Trade and Investment Facilitation Faction; Mohammad Hossein Kashi, Member of the Board at the Infrastructure Communications Company; Sadra Babaei, CEO of the Smart Innovation Factory Omidino; with Siyavash Ghadousi serving as the session’s Secretary, and Mohammad Milad Shakib, Head of the Think Tank, acting as host.

Speakers emphasized that while AI offers transformative potential for enhancing national resilience and crisis management, Iran faces key challenges such as preventing brain drain, organizing data infrastructures, and developing AI-driven models for decision-making in emergencies. The participants called for structured policy frameworks, multi-sector collaboration, and the formation of specialized task forces—particularly with private-sector involvement—to craft a national strategic roadmap for AI governance and passive defense.
