An examination of strategies to counter Iranophobia and Islamophobia, and to enhance the soft power influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the regional and international level
Abstract
The Islamic Republic of Iran, with its long history in artistic, literary, and spiritual domains, as well as its strategic position in a region considered the heart of Islamic civilization, possesses significant potential for expanding its cultural influence. However, in recent decades, it has faced numerous challenges, particularly in the form of widespread Iranophobia and Islamophobia. These waves, largely intensified by political factors and international media, have led to misconceptions about Iran and Islam in global public opinion. This issue has not only negatively impacted Iran’s diplomatic relations with other countries but has also diminished its influence on the international stage.
This study was conducted at the Nations Diplomacy Think Tank in collaboration with Seyed Mohammad Ali Seyed Hanaei, Ali Afsari Oghani, and Arian Khanaghahi Rezaei in 2024.
